Podcasts for a Writer’s Soul

Need some good Podcasts to get those creative juices flowing?

Here is what I’m listening to that will really help replenish creativity and help motivate.

UPDATE: Now with MORE podcasts!

1. 88 Cups of Tea with Yin Chang
Yin is a great host who conducts personal interviews with YA authors that hit on motivation, self care, and getting the work done. I always finish an episode feeling rejuvenated and with the sense that I am not alone when I hit those creative walls.

2. You Should Be Writing with Mur Lafferty
These episodes range from 10 minutes to 30 minutes of a writer’s consciousness. Mur’s talks are cathartic in the fact that she makes a goal to get writing done, and podcasting done even if it is for a few minutes a day.

3. Pub(lishing) Crawl: Hosted by Kelly and JJ
This podcast gives some great in-depth looks at the creative process through an agent’s eye and the writer’s eye. They talk about a few of my favorite things (which turns out to be their favorite things) from video games, television shows, and story development. The podcast flows easily and is such a delight to listen too when I drive to work in the morning. I feel like these women are my best friends throughout their podcast.

4. First Draft with Sarah Enni
Sarah interviews authors of YA and Middle school books. Like 88 Cups, these talks are meant to inspire and encourage new writers and give insight to the creative process.

5. Smart Podcast, Trashy Books with Sarah Wendell
From the women who brought you Smart Bitches, Trashy Books comes a podcast of the same nature. Sarah Wendell, a lover of romance novels and the genre, interviews authors, booksellers, librarians, and everything under the sun. Sarah is always bright, personable, and works hard to give her listeners the Happily Ever After podcast they so crave.

6. So You Wanna Write a Romance with Sarah Younger
This is a new podcast but I can see it being incredibly useful. Sarah Younger is an agent, so she gives some great advice as someone in the industry.

7. Wattpad Podcast
If you are already familiar with Wattpad this may not be such a surprise for you that they have a podcast! Each episode is an interview with a popular wattpad writer. If going indie or the wonders of wattpad interest you this podcast is definitely a must listen. The sound quality isn’t always the best but some of the insights from the conversations are amazing! And I’ve discovered some great reads from it!

Did I miss anything? Comment with any other great recommendations for podcasts.
